Host Families and English Language Schools
The majority of students in our schools opt to be placed with an Irish host family. Our host families are normally located in safe, residential areas away from the city and town centres.
All MEI host families are carefully selected, individually inspected and continually monitored. Staying with an Irish host family will allow you to learn about the Irish way of life and will give you ample opportunity to practise your English.
Schools try to match each student with a suitable family, so for example if the student is a teenager, quite often the chosen family will have teenagers of the same age. Likewise some students may prefer to live in a less traditional family environment, and their needs can also be catered to.

Other accommodation options for language students in Ireland
Residential school accommodation is another popular form of accommodation for language students.
This is mostly available during the summer months, but also throughout the year in some schools.
In recent times Irish universities have opened their doors to language students providing excellent standards of residential accommodation on campus, with the added advantage of offering the students the benefits of “student village life”.
Our member schools can also arrange other forms of accommodation; these would include self-catering apartments, hotels, guesthouses and hostels.
